OVER THE RAINBOW

Glad to hear everything worked out for you, as well.

THE ARK IS ABOUT TO SET SAIL

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you. Our weather in far western IL is clearing after the nasty blow yesterday... maybe you'll have clear skies, too, by sunset tonight.

A SMOKER'S LAMENT

I thought just living in Illinois guaranteed unfair, unjustified taxes to pay for pointless garbage while real education and other necessities tanked. Was I mistaken?

I don't smoke, but if you want, I have friends in Iowa -- and one just across the river from Burlington, over here in IL -- who would pick up a carton or three for me if I asked.... Just say the word. ;-)

And, oh yeah: can we ban Brussels Sprouts while we're at it? Those things smell *nasty* even when they're just growing in the fields.

NEXT YEAR COULD BE THIS YEAR

I've already asked this elsewhere, but it seems applicable here, as well... If the Cubbies were to win the series, would that make Derrek Lee the First Baseman of the Apocalypse?

Dare we even hope, under the circumstances?

COMING FULL CIRCLE

The writers did magnificently on a number of fronts, this week, but that Lisa is astonishingly unimaginative for somebody who manages to work inside the most powerful building in the world.

When she wanted to leave the room, so that the Russian spy could get to her PDA, she said "I need to freshen up." Okay, good. But when spyboy said, "But you already took a shower..." she should have said, "Where I come from, a shower is not what we girls mean when we say 'freshen up in the ladies' room.' Here's my PDA. Why don'cha take a peek while I take a leak?" Problem solved.

O'course, that puts a damper on those necessary plot-device tensions.

I hope something untoward happens to her, next week. She's as annoying as Milo was.

24 RECAP DELAYED - A "BLIZZARD OF REASONS" (MAJOR UPDATE BELOW)

As usual, I'm looking forward to your take on the show. In that "drafty house," keep your typing fingers warm...

SINS OF THE FATHER

Is Graem really dead, yet? The team acted as though there had still been some breath in him, as they rushed to attend him. Nobody pulled a sheet over his face.

If Graem is taken to CTU & manages to survive, there's a chance of a really cool new plot twist or two.

ALL MY SONS

Rick, you mentioned Bill's error in allowing Fayed to slip through his fingers, and Karen's burying the file, following it with, "Can you imagine in the real world if the Washington Post got a hold of that information? "

You mean like the stories about the Sudan offering Osama to Clinton, and Sandy Berg(l)er's probable removal of the documentary evidence? I think I can imagine...

Fahagie: "I wonder if there are cases during the internment of Japanese Americans on the West Coast where there was vigilantism against collaborators?"

AFTERMATH

When you say you expect Walid to convert or die early, you're forgetting this is the product of Hollywood writers you're talking about. My money is on his converting some detained terrorist away from violence... just before he's killed.

After all, terrorists have feelings, too.

THE TOP FIVE TV GAME SHOWS OF ALL TIME

What? No "Name That Tune"?

Nevertheless, a truly fine list!

I have fond memories of playing "Password" with friends and family -- Mom bought the boxed game, complete with the Password cards and the envelopes with the little red plastic windows (which were the only way to read the cards, and which we kids used for playing "Mission: Impossible" or, occasionally, "Secret Agent Man"... complete with cool theme songs).

But our family still drops everything to play along as "Jeopardy!" comes on the air.
